Design of Reconfigurable Antenna for All-Metal Wearable IoT Devices
In this paper, a reconfigurable antenna with a dynamic radiation pattern is presented for wearable IoT devices. The proposed design is integrated into an all-metal enclosure, using a slot antenna structure to operate at 2.4 GHz. By strategically switching RF PIN diodes, the antenna can be configured to provide different radiation patterns, allowing the device to compensate for the influence of the human body. This feature is particularly advantageous in multipath scenarios, as the diversity scheme can be used to improve channel quality and reliability. The integration of the antenna into an all-metal enclosure further promotes robust and compact form factors suitable for wearable applications.
