Innovative Design and Performance Analysis of a 5G Microstrip Patch Antenna
This paper presents a novel design and comprehensive performance analysis of a wideband microstrip patch antenna, designed over a 0.8 mm thick Rogers RT/duroid 5880 substrate which features a dielectric constant of 2.2 and loss tangent of 0.0009. The designed antenna has overall dimensions of 60×60×0.8 mm3. The proposed antenna comprises a mirrored Z shaped patch and a rectangular strip on the top of the substrate and a mirrored Z shaped defective ground surface (DGS) on the bottom of the substrate. The proposed antenna offers -10dB impedance bandwidth of 80.16% around the resonance frequency of 2.37 GHz. Additionally, the suggested antenna offers an average broadside gain of 3.87 dB in the entire working range. Designed microstrip antenna offers stable dipolar and omnidirectional radiation patterns in XZ- and YZ- planes respectively. The designed antenna can be suitable for 5G communication, Bluetooth (2.42-2.48 GHz), Wi-Fi (2.4-2.48), applications.
