International Technical Standard Conformity Evaluation of an Airport Runway Foreign Object Debris Detection Prototype System Based on a 96-GHz Millimeter-Wave Radar
Foreign object debris (FOD) detection systems at airports facilitate both safety and efficient usage of runways. In this study, conformity evaluation of an FOD detection prototype system at Tokyo International Airport are performed based on the international technical standard. The European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment Minimum Aviation System Performance Standard for FOD detection systems specifies the requirement of probability of detection, time to detection, location accuracy and detection of multiple objects. We evaluated these parameters via measurements conducted over two months and confirmed that they met the requirements.
