Measurement of 100 GHz Radio Propagation Across Power Transmission Line
For a stable electric power supply including huge number of distributed energy resources (DERs), communication networks have become more essential. High-speed and highly reliable communication networks are required to support future power grids operation. This report describes measurements of propagation losses in cases where power transmission lines exist in the propagation path of 100 GHz, assuming the use of millimeter/terahertz waves in the area around power transmission towers. Measurements were carried out in a radio wave anechoic chamber at a propagation distance of 15 m. The calculation results were in good agreement with the experimental results. Reflecting the results of this study in the design of link budgets will contribute construction of the highly reliable communication network for infrastructures.
