Kinematics of Rotational Failure of Ramban Landslide (25 April 2024) in Jammu and Kashmir and Regional Vertical Displacement Analysis Using SBAS-InSAR

The MTInSAR analysis of the landslide disaster that occurred on 25 April 2024 around the Pernote-A village in Ramban District, Jammu and Kashmir, showed the kinematics of rotation failure as observed along the line of sight of the right-looking sentinel-1 descending pass. The landslide from crown to toe, with crown showing higher velocity compared to the toe and middle portions along the toe of the surface of rupture showed a change in direction of motion as observed through displacement-time series trend. The cumulative vertical displacement map of the Muree Formation part of the Ramban district is created through aspect-parallel flow assumption applied to the ascending and descending cumulative displacement of points in the region to identify the landslide-prone areas by selecting points with high vertical downwards cumulative displacement.
