Performance Analysis of Satellite Communication with WSN using MATLAB
This paper presents the design and simulation of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) for satellite communication using MATLAB Simulink. The system models sensor data collection, aggregation, transmission, and reception through interconnected subsystems replicating a real WSN architecture for satellite applications. It comprises five key subsystems: Sensor node, Data Aggregator, Communication Module, Satellite, and Ground Station. The sensor nodes generate aggregated data and transmit them using phase-shift keying (PSK) modulation. The Satellite subsystem simulates a signal processing delay before forwarding data to the ground station. Here, metrics such as throughput, signal integrity, and energy efficiency are analyzed. The simulation results show high throughput (90kbps) and effective data transmission while maintaining low energy consumption and minimal packet loss (2%). This work improves the understanding of WSN performance in satellite communication environments, highlighting their potential for real-time monitoring applications in various domains like weather & environmental monitoring, disaster management, and military surveillance.
