A Defected Ground Structure Based Triple Bands Antenna for Wearable Applications

This work presents a triple bands antenna using a defected ground structure. The proposed antenna operates at three bands of 2.45 GHz, 3.5 GHz, and 5.8 GHz-covering BLE, Wi-Fi, and 5G applications. The antenna design includes a triangular ring, a Y-strip, and a T-shaped defected ground structure. The middle band is generated by incorporating the Ystrip within the triangular ring. The position and structure of the defected ground are optimized to achieve the desired frequencies. The antenna was fabricated on a cost-effective FR-4 substrate with a thickness of 0.8 mm. The simulated and measured results show good agreement, demonstrating the potential of this antenna for wearable devices.
