A Wideband Traveling-Wave Endfire Glass Antenna
A compact broadband endfire glass antenna is presented in this paper. Operating in traveling wave mode, the thin glass radiator provides endfire radiation fields. This compact glass antenna has a wide impedance bandwidth of 57.5% (4.15-7.50 GHz) and a 3 dB gain bandwidth of 48.6% (4.20-6.90 GHz). A prototype antenna was fabricated and measured to verify this design. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated results. Due to its low cost, simple structure, transparent appearance, wide bandwidth, and stable gain, this glass antenna has the potential for vehicular communication applications.
