Design and Performance Evaluation of Current Starved VCO using 14nm FinFET Technology
A Current Starved VCO using 14nm FinFET is investigated using ring oscillator design, where the frequency of the oscillator can be adjusted by the controlled voltage. The physical layout is designed, simulated and enhanced with Microwind 3.9 EDA using FinFET 14 nm with BSIM 4 MOS modelling technique. The design is made through the scaling of device parameters with operating voltage V<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">DD</inf> for 14nm FinFET as 0.80V and IO V<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">DD</inf> 1.00 V. We target the result analysis and comparison for various parameters including technology, performance, power, efficiency, supply voltage, phase noise, and tuning range. The range of the oscillation frequency for 14nm FinFET is 10.48 GHz to 28.17 GHz.
