Frequency Sharing Study of Satellite and Radiodetermination Services in the 90-GHz Band

The systems using wireless signals must follow the authorized frequency allocations in the ITU-R. In addition to following the allocated frequencies, frequencies must be shared with other services in the same or adjacent band. The foreign object debris detection system (FODDS) for runways surveillance is a radiodetermination service allocated in the 92–100 GHz band. This frequency band has many other allocated services such as earth exploration satellite services (EESS), radio astronomy, and so on. In this report, we discuss the issues of frequency sharing between the runway foreign object debris detection system using 92–100 GHz and the earth exploration satellite service which is allocated in the adjacent band. The standardization work underway in the ITU-R will also be presented.
