Framework For Generating Analysis Ready Sar Mosaic Data Products: Eos-04, Eos-09 and Nisar Perspective

Analysis Ready Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Mosaic Data products allow for immediate analysis over large scale geographical regions with a minimum additional user effort. They are generated as Normalized Radar Backscatter (NRB) products on a common geometric grid to provide interoperability both through time and with other datasets. EOS-04 satellite launched by ISRO on 14 February 2022 comprises of C-Band SAR operating at 5.4 GHz. Systematic coverage over Indian sub-continent with 17 days repeat cycle in Medium Resolution ScanSAR (MRS -HH+HV polarization) mode during descending (6AM passes) with Right-Look imaging geometry is the workhorse mode for EOS-04. EOS-09, which is a repeat mission for EOS-04 SAR will add to ISRO’s fleet of SAR missions. Operating in unison, EOS-04 and EOS-09 will bring down the effective systematic coverage of Indian Landmass to ~10 days. In addition, the first earth bound dual frequency NASA-ISRO SAR (NISAR) will have systematic Indian region acquisitions in joint L and S bands every 12 days. The aim of this paper is to present the automated framework for generation of precision quality mosaic data products available from EOS-04, EOS-09 and NISAR missions.
