A Comphrehensive Approach to Power Management in Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Worldwide, the amount of greenhouse gases and air pollution is increasing. Global forums are making great efforts to lessen reliance on fossil fuels. An early effort to less dependency on fossil fuels was the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). Further investigation is necessary to comprehend an EV's energy needs under different driving scenarios. The key factor influencing an electric vehicle's sustainable operation is its performance, which varies depending on the driving conditions. One of the most significant ways to save energy is through regenerative braking. This is true for systems including electric and hybrid vehicles (HEVs and EVs). Four distinct braking modes two of which are new are available. In order to improve the management methods of EVS-HEV, the research reported in this paper provides a novel theoretical basis for the use of EVs in HEVs. It then proposes a hierarchical controller that switches the braking mode using a rule-based control technique. Using MATLAB software, a simulation of the control approach is run. The findings demonstrate that the suggested control approach can enhance HEV RBS performance.
