Surface Deformation Monitoring Over the Kamrup Metropolitan District of Northeast India Using MT-InSAR Technique
The research focused on monitoring land deformation over the Kamrup Metropolitan District (KMD) of Assam, India. Due to rapid urbanization, the expansion of built-up areas, and the growing population over the last decades, substantial subsidence is expected. We analyzed Sentinel-1 (S1) sensor data from the European Space Agency (ESA) from 26/03/2017 to 06/04/202. The study uses the SBAS-based MT-InSAR technique for SAR data processing and analysis. We observed a significant subsidence pattern of about 71.64 mm/yr over the central Dispur circle and >60 mm/yr over the northeast region of the Chandanpur circle over the KMD region during 2017-2024. Such findings are essential to support city managers and policymakers in understanding the infrastructure monitoring and potential damage assessment over the fast-growing city in northeast India.
