Genetic Algorithm Optimized Fractional Order STATCOM Alleviating Voltage Dip Caused by L-G Failure in Utility Grid Tied Fuel Cell Based Microgrid
Data centers, hospitals, and industrial operations rely on a grid-tied micro grid to provide electricity in the event when utilities fail. Grid stability, cost optimization, and energy resilience are all enhanced. In rural regions, extending the grid is expensive and logistically challenging. By using energy storage systems, compensating devices, quick fault detection, and advanced controllers, grid-tied micro grids lower voltage sag due to fault in the system. In this suggested system, a MATLAB simulation has been implemented to build a micro grid that integrates Genetic Algorithm (GA) optimized fractional order STATCOM and has a utility grid of 400 V and a supply frequency of 50 Hz. Grid-tied Perturb and Observe (P&O) MPPT based fuel cell micro grid is better in reducing voltage dip and enhancing power quality during L-G fault scenarios when integrating GA optimized fractional order based STATCOM which is controlling PWM-VSI.
