Brain Tumor Classification in MRI Scans Using Shape Features & Machine Learning Techniques
A brain tumor is an unusual growth of cells in the brain that can be either cancerous or non-cancerous. These tumors are the most common malignant primary brain tumors of the central nervous system. They can affect brain function by putting pressure on nearby nerves, blood vessels, and tissues. Accurate early diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment. MRI is commonly used to detect and classify brain tumors as malignant or benign. In this process, MRI images from the Figshare dataset are used, to segment these tumors using various processing techniques. Shape features are extracted for classification, and then various machine learning algorithms are used which perform both classification and regression. These features are fed to these algorithms such as ANN, SVM, and Random Forest.
