Performance Evaluation Of Various Bifacial Photovoltaic Technologies: HIT, TOPCon, PERC In Bhopal Using PVsyst Simulator
The bifacial photovoltaic (PV) modules capture irradiance from both the front side and rear side, enhancing the energy production and efficiency. This study focuses on comparing three different bifacial photovoltaic technologies: Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin Layer (HIT), Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon), and Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact (PERC), using a PVsyst simulator in composite climatic conditions of Bhopal, a city in Madhya Pradesh state, India. The key parameters like energy yield, performance ratios (PR), system losses, and economic analysis were evaluated. The HIT results in the highest energy yield and excellent thermal performance. The n-type TOPCon is impressive in module efficiency and energy output. While the Mono-PERC balances cost and energy output. As these new technologies: HIT and TOPCon, have recently started manufacturing, this study provides helpful insights for selection of the best sustainable energy deployment.
