Phishing Detection and Response System with XGBOOST Machine Learning
Email phishing attacks are one of the most severe threats to personal, organizational, and financial information through email and websites. The attackers exploit human vulnerabilities to extract confidential information from users. The proposed system utilizes an AI-based algorithm, XGBoost, which is well known for its efficiency in building a robust machine learning model with high classification accuracy. It uses gradient boosting to handle large datasets with precision, ensuring reliable detection of fraudulent communications. The system is trained on a diversified dataset containing both phishing and legitimate emails and web pages. Key feature elements include URL extraction, email headers, message content, and domain information. Initially, the system preprocesses the collected data by extracting relevant features and converting them to a machine-readable format for training. An XGBoost model then has to be fitted to labeled data that can identify phishing attempts through subtle anomalies. The system then goes live, operating in real-time, and scans incoming emails and web pages and instantly alerts users of phishing attempts it detects on them. Such a system minimizes by many folds the success of phishing attack intentions. Self-updating systems through new data releases on phishing ensure an adaptable approach to active threats. This also improves online cybersecurity through the scalable and efficient detection of phishing attacks. This system has a sufficient amount of machine learning usage which is effective for the identification of differences between legitimate and malicious contents, which contributes to this proposed solution being a safer digital space. Real-time alert feature integration in this system makes it more protective for the user since it detects any potential threats beforehand. Also, this proposed solution has an adaptive and scalable nature that changes with time according to new phishing strategies evolved in various contexts. It reduces the chances of phishing attacks on users and thus increases overall cybersecurity with reduced impacts of phishing scams.
