Application of Risk-Based Approach to Analyze Damages from Failures of Electrical Equipment
This article explores the strategy of transitioning from planned maintenance to condition-based maintenance for electric grid facilities, an approach that is becoming increasingly relevant for power grid companies. The focus is on assessing the risks and consequences of equipment failures, which enables the reduction of overhaul costs and enhances the reliability of power grids. Additionally, this approach facilitates more efficient planning of repair activities. The implementation of a risk-oriented strategy requires a comprehensive analysis of the current technical condition of power grids and associated risks to optimize maintenance practices. The article presents a method for managing the electric grid infrastructure, which is based on the principle that risk assessment contributes to improving operational and economic efficiency. Central to this approach is the use of the Technical Condition Index (TCI), which serves as a key factor in risk-oriented maintenance planning.
