Low-Latency V2X Communication With Non-Orthogonal Slicing: A Deterministic Network Calculus Approach
Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication has been widely accepted as a critical application scenario of the forthcoming 6th generation wireless system. This paper explores the requirements for V2X communication, including massive connectivity, reliability, end-to-end (E2E) latency, and throughput, concerning enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) services. To meet the requirements of eMBB and URLLC, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) technology is integrated with network slicing to create multiple logical slices while sharing the same physical resources. NOMA technology enables massive connectivity by allowing multiple users to transmit simultaneously over the same time-frequency resources. To ensure E2E latency, the deterministic network calculus theory is exploited to investigate the maximum delay boundary of V2X communication. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach ensures ultra-low latency in an Urban Macro city scenario, even in the presence of multiple user interference, while meeting eMBB bandwidth requirements.
