O ALENTEJO, OS MONUMENTOS MEGALÍTICOS E A ARQUEOLOGIA PÚBLICA

The megalithic monuments of Alentejo are the ideal excuse to think about our Alentejo identity. Bearing in mind that it is in the Neolithic period that the foundations for the evelopment of this geographic and cultural identity were established, this work intends to discuss how Archaeology, through the study of the material culture of our Neolithic ancestors, can contribute to the understanding of this identity and, finally, reflect on how Public Archaeology can promote relationship between us and and the first farmers and shepherds of Alentejo, aiming to create communities that are more informed and capacitated to think about their past, their present and their future.
