ADVERTISING TEXTS IN THE ELECTRONIC TEXTBOOK ON UFL «PODOROZHIUA»

The article analyzes the practical methods of using creolized advertising texts in the electronic textbook on Ukrainian as a Foreign Language (UFL) for beginners, PodorozhiUA, by Alla Nedashkivska and Olena Sivachenko. Due to its digital format, PodorozhiUA offers a wide range of authentic linguocultural materials, among which advertising plays a significant role. Video advertisements in the textbook include four commercials, one social advertisement, and one film trailer. Creolized advertising texts encompass various genres such as posters, banners, billboards, advertising signboards, pillars, city lights, advertisements on windows and showcases, vehicle advertisements, etc. Based on their function in the textbook, we have classified these advertising texts into three groups: 1) аdvertising visuals as contextual elements; 2) аdvertising materials as illustrative support for linguodidactic exercises; 3) аdvertising texts as a core learning component in the task system. The first group consists of advertising texts that are not specifically designed for linguistic analysis. They primarily serve as a backdrop for presenting other learning objectives and tasks or appear randomly in the background of the PodorozhiUA educational platform. The second group includes advertising texts that are purposefully selected by the textbook authors to reflect or supplement the study topic. They create a realistic context that stimulates language activity and enhances the communication skills of foreign learners. However, the approach to working with such advertising materials remains open and flexible for instructors. The third group demonstrates the use of advertising not only as a supplementary tool but also as a key component in teaching Ukrainian, supporting the development of a comprehensive system of tasks and exercises. In PodorozhiUA, advertising texts are carefully selected and effectively incorporated into all major topics of the UFL course for beginners. Teachers can work with advertisements following the authors’ structured approach or adapt them to different learning needs using alternative scenarios. Key words: advertising text, creolized advertising text, electronic textbook, Ukrainian as a foreign language, linguodidactics.
