Experimental study on manufacturing quality of double-curvature stiffened composite panels fabricated via multi-baseline fiber path planning
The fiber path planning of double-curvature composite panels is closely related to the forming quality of components. Determining the optimal fiber path for double-curvature panels with multiple reference baselines remains to be studied. This study proposes a placement benchmark-averaging algorithm for generating fiber paths under multiple reference directions, and then utilizes it to design the fiber paths for a double-curvature stiffened composite panel. Post-forming, the manufacturing quality of the component was evaluated regarding internal flaws, thickness variations, and microscopic morphology. Results demonstrated that on the constraint of multiple reference baselines, fiber path generation based on the placement benchmark-averaging algorithm enhances double-curvature composite panel forming quality.
