Lanthanum Oxide Nanoparticles Synthesis Using Plant Extracts: A Greener Approach

This study focuses on biogenic synthesis of lanthanum oxide nanoparticles (La 2 O 3 NPs) using plant extracts, employing natural plant metabolites as eco-friendly reducing and stabilizing agents. Natural plant extract contains active ingredients like alkaloids, terpenoids, phenols, etc., which can act as capping and reducing agents. The single-step, biogenic approach yields stable nanoparticles (NPs) characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), and UV-Visible (UV-Vis) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopic techniques. The biosynthesized La 2 O 3 NPs were crystalline in nature, with an average diameter of about 22.5[Formula: see text]nm, with a high surface area-to-volume ratio, and with potential applications in drug delivery, antimicrobial treatments, and environmental remediation. This sustainable method offers a viable alternative to conventional synthesis, aligning with goals for eco-friendly nanotechnology development.
