Seismic Response Analysis of a Three-Tower Isolated Structure with Connecting Corridor

This study conducted a nonlinear integral modeling analysis for a connected high-rise building consisting of three high-rise buildings of the same height and a steel connecting corridor located at the top. The corridor is located at the top of the structure, which is designed to maximize the use of building space and create iconic elements to enhance the aesthetics and visual impact of the building. This paper compares the performance of the seismic structure, the base isolated structure, the connecting corridor isolated structure, and the base plus connecting corridor isolated structure. The air corridor structure system and its analysis and design method are systematically described, and the impacts on the structure of the different connecting modes are discussed. Finally, the optimal seismic reduction and isolation design of the high-rise linkage is selected. The results indicated that compared with the seismic structure, the overall structure, isolation bearing, and viscous dampers of the base isolated structure and the base plus connecting corridor isolated structure satisfy the predetermined seismic performance design objectives under rare earthquakes, effectively mitigating the seismic energy transmitted to the superstructure, and improve the safety and reliability of the structure. The top connecting corridor connects multiple towers into a single unit by means of a flexible connection, which significantly improves the overall stiffness and lateral stiffness of the structure, and effectively dissipates the seismic energy through the energy dissipation device to minimize the damage to the structure caused by the earthquake. However, the effect of installing a seismic isolation layer only at the connecting corridor is not good.
