Een neurologisch raadsel
An unusual cause of neurological symptoms A patient experienced a range of neurological symptoms, including vertigo, seizures, diplopia, fatigue, over the course of several years. This was due to a profound hypomagnesemia, caused by the prolonged use of a high dose of omeprazole. Discontinuing the PPI led to the normalization of magnesium levels, resulting in the complete resolution of all symptoms. This case illustrates that hypomagnesemia is a rare but potentially serious side effect of PPI therapy, affecting multiple organ systems.
