How China's Campus Football Policies Affect Students’ Physical Health and Academic Performance in Tibet: Empirical Research Based on PSM-DID Model

The campus football policies are the center of China's ambition to lead students to all-round development and improve their physical health across the country. In the present work, with data of 5671 students collected from a junior high school in Tibet between 2013 and 2023, this research employed the propensity score matching (PSM) method and the difference-in-difference (DID) technique to investigate how China's campus football policies affect the students’ physical and academic performance, measured mainly by their scores for physical education (PE) and other disciplines in the high-stake examination. It was found that these policies significantly improved the students’ scores for PE and other disciplines in the High School Entrance Exam (HSEE). The research is expected to offer insights into the impact of these policies on students and provide suggestions for cultivating football talents in schools.
