Vestígios de Memória da Representação Descritiva Materializados em Catálogos

Highlight evidence of memory of the practice of descriptive representation materialized in catalogs belonging to informational environments in Salvador / BA. The research is characterized as descriptive, with the adoption of multiple case, documentary and evidentiary methods. Data analysis was based on a qualitative approach. The results showed documents originating from descriptive representation that supported the organization, identification and access to items in the documentary collections, such as bound printed catalogs and separate catalog cards that reveal historical aspects of cataloging, belonging to the Biblioteca Central do Estado da Bahia; Bibliotheca Gonçalo Moniz and Biblioteca do Museu de Arte da Bahia. Given the analysis of the descriptive elements adopted in each device analyzed in this study, we argue that these catalogs and catalog cards materialize traces of memory of the practice of descriptive representation and reveal the social and historical context of their productions and producers.
