Spinel‐Type Mn–Cr Composite Oxides for Catalytic Removal of Dichloromethane–Acetone Mixtures

The development of low‐cost and high‐performance catalysts is crucial for the efficient oxidation of mixed volatile organic compounds (VOCs). In this study, a comparative investigation of dichloromethane (DCM) and acetone oxidation over different Mn–Cr composite oxides is conducted. Among them, the MnCr 2 O x catalyst exhibits superior catalytic activity for the removal of mixed VOCs, achieving T 90% of 182 °C for acetone oxidation and 250 °C for DCM oxidation at a space velocity of 20000 mL (g·h). Notably, the MnCr 2 O x catalyst effectively suppresses the formation of toxic chlorine‐containing by‐products. Characterization results reveal that the catalytic performance is primarily modulated by the synergistic effect between the surface acidity and redox property of the catalyst. Furthermore, the co‐presence of DCM and acetone does not alter the catalytic oxidation mechanism. The reaction pathways for the oxidation of DCM and acetone in the mixture are found to be consistent with those for the oxidation of individual DCM or acetone.
