Method for Searching an Aircraft that has Crashed Using Uniformly Optimal Search Strategies

This study proposes an investigation into the justification of a method for searching an aircraft that has crashed using uniformly optimal search strategies. The article provides an analysis of existing search methods, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages. In the first phase of the research, an optimization problem is addressed for a uniformly optimal search strategy. In the second phase, the authors have developed a flowchart algorithm for a search and rescue operation based on the uniformly optimal search method. The third phase illustrates the results of applying the uniformly optimal search strategy for an aircraft that has crashed, utilizing the Python programming language. The study also explores potential applications of the scientific results obtained. The new scientific results are: the algorithm for implementing the search method using a uniformly optimal search strategy; the mathematical formalization of the optimization problem for the algorithm parameters of the search method has been conducted. The results obtained from applying the uniformly optimal search strategy for locating a distressed aircraft confirm the effectiveness of the method. The primary advantages of this method include the relatively short time required to detect the search object, complete coverage of the search area, and the simplicity of coordinating search and rescue units. Possible directions for future research are proposed, which will be based on the modeling of aviation disasters and the calculation of quantitative indicators for the search method investigated in this scientific publication.
