Dependencia petrolera en Ecuador y su diversificación en la matriz productiva

Oil has been fundamental to Ecuador's economic development due to the large inflows of foreign currency it generates. However, this resource, in addition to being limited, exposes the country to external events and international price fluctuations. This research aimed to highlight Ecuador's oil dependence and the shift in its production mix, in order to identify new options for diversifying its export model. Considering a quantitative approach methodology, with a longitudinal descriptive research level with a non-experimental design, where the techniques of data analysis were applied to demonstrate the oil dependence and the bibliographic review, in search of possible solutions to the problem present in the national economy and, together with the results obtained, they demonstrate how this hydrocarbon is significantly present in employment, the general budget of the State, in the GDP, among other economic aspects, concluding how the dependence on oil and its scarcity negatively affects the country, highlighting the need to diversify the productive matrix, enhancing the strengths of Ecuador or taking as a reference the analysis carried out in the research on similar economies that managed to get out of dependence by different diversification methods.
