Progress in physiological function and application of Enteromorpha prolifera and its polysaccharides
<p indent="0mm">Enteromorpha is a genus of large seaweed, possesses the capacity to rapidly proliferate in nutrient-rich waters, resulting in the formation of algal blooms, which can have significant environmental consequences. Enteromorpha polysaccharide, a compound derived from this seaweed, demonstrates a range of biological activities, including immunomodulation, antioxidant properties, and potential antitumor effects. The exploration of both Enteromorpha itself and its polysaccharide presents promising avenues for medical and animal feed applications. This review delves into the nutritional profile of Enteromorpha, its utilization in feed, and the composition and biological properties of Enteromorpha polysaccharide, with the goal of offering insights and recommendations for their further development and utilization.
