The Chernoozerye II Site: Results of the 2024 Archaeological Season (Sargatsky District, Omsk Region)

The article presents the results of archaeological research of the Chernoozerye II site, conducted in the summer of 2024 on the territory of the Chernoozerskaya Ridge in the Omsk Region. The research team consisted of students and specialists from F.M. Dostoevsky Omsk State University. The main focus was on a 46-square-meter plot located at the northwestern end of the site, part of an area unaffected by previous excavations. As a result of the work, the stratigraphic features of the layers were clarified, variations in the thickness of cultural layers 4b and 5 were identified, and the lithologic horizons were found to uplift towards the south. Furthermore, adjustments to the methodology of layer stripping allowed for a more accurate reconstruction of cultural layer 5. The artifacts date back to the Final Paleolithic and Early Mesolithic periods in southern Western Siberia (approximately 10,000-11,000 BCE). The results support previous findings that the slope of the ridge was not an area of active industrial activity, and the osteological collection (including freshwater mollusk shells) reflects the diverse economic practices of the ancient inhabitants.
