Study on Paradigm Change of Spectrum Usage for 6G Service

We analyzed the recent changes in spectrum usage in mobile services and the spectrum for 6G mobile services, and proposed a new paradigm for using the mobile communication spectrum. The agenda for using mobile services at the WRC-23, held in November 2023, shows a change in the use of the mobile service spectrum that has been maintained over the past 40 years. The method of predicting future mobile service traffic and further allocating the IMT spectrum is changing to provide spectrum for ultrahigh-speed video services of 1 Gbps or more and 3D spatial services for 6G mobile services. The analytical results of the cell radii in the 3.5, 8, and 28 GHz bands in the 6G spectrum band revealed that, compared with 3.5 GHz, it is 1.3 and 1.7 times wider for 500 Mbps and 1.5 and 2.5 times wider for 1 Gbps, respectively. In terms of building a wireless joint network in 8-GHz bands, it is 1.8 times wider for 500 Mbps and 2.7 times for 1 Gbps as the data transmission speed increases. Therefore, 6G mobile services can be efficiently provided by changing the paradigm of spectrum usage for mobile services to the use of spectrum bands matched with various services and the joint construction of wireless networks using spectrum sharing to provide high-speed services.
