On the relationship between psychological well-being and learning motivation in primary school children
The article presents data on psychological well-being of primary school children with different types of learning motivation. Positive connections of psychological well-being and components of its structure with internal motivation of learning, negative connections – with external motivation of learning are established. It is shown that cognitive motivation, self-development motivation, awareness of the significance of learning activity for themselves, but at the same time – orientation to high academic performance are characteristic for junior schoolchildren with a high level of psychological well-being. At a low level of psychological well-being, children have a pronounced external motivation of learning, reflecting primarily the teacher's requirements, subjective perception of learning difficulties, negative attitude to learning, preschool-type motivation with its hedonistic orientation.
