Biaxial tensile test and joint strength modeling of HDPE geocells
The relationship between the overall tensile behavior of geocells and that of their constituent strips and junctions has been characterized by ambiguity, presenting difficulties for the formulation of precise engineering design criteria. To address this, biaxial tensile tests on geocells with varying geocell heights and welding distances were performed at different tensile velocities, assessing the biaxial, X-junctions, and strips. The tensile strengths, failure modes, and microscopic features of these components were analyzed across a range of experimental conditions. The tensile strength exertion rate of the geocell as a whole was compared with those of the individual strips and junctions. Employing the joint anisotropic growth model, the strength interplay between the geocell's entirety and its components was delineated. The outcomes of this research are expected to offer a theoretical foundation for understanding the tensile strength interrelationships among the geocell as an overall and its constituent strips and junctions.
