Frequency selective surface microstructure patterning on silver-based low-e coatings: laser ablation and photolithography
Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) patterns on silver-based low-e coatings using laser ablation and photolithography were analysed. Both techniques significantly reduced signal attenuation from 30 dB to below 5 dB, with minimal impact on heat-blocking capabilities. Photolithography produced higher-quality patterns with thinner line widths although finer linewidth also resulted in larger attenuation. Both methods presented excellent optical properties and abrasion resistance. The findings suggest that FSS patterning can improve telecommunication signal transmission through low-e coatings, making them more suitable for modern connectivity needs in architectural and automotive applications.
