Democracia e o subsistema digital do capitalismo
This article aims to evaluate, based on a critical bibliographical review, the impacts of the digital era on the crises in western democracies, especially at the national level. It is possible to assure that the economic neoliberalism has greatly contributed to the process of erosion of the democratic pillars seen recently. For Nancy Fraser, although the economic subsystem is one of the most influential aspects of capitalism, this model consists of a true institutionalized social order, which includes other constitutive elements in its background conditions of possibility. In this comprehensive understanding of capitalism, the digital era has been performing as one more of its foundation, which can be demonstrated with the inception of the virtual as another subsystem of the capital, which can contribute to a more critical perception of contemporary dilemmas.
