We propose an exploratory by analyzing the main instruments to combat drug trafficking, such as the Specialized Border Policing Project and the Strategic Border Plan, combined with an overview of the resources used in boundary. We analyzed eleven Brazilian states on the land border during 2011-2019, totaling 99 cases. Findings indicate the precariousness of public policy implementation to combat international trafficking, which fails to implement two of its three pillars. It is characterized by the limitation of human resources and irregularity of technological investments to produce effects in the seizure of drugs. Therefore, this research offers an overview for improving the securitization of Brazilian borders. It calls on public agents to observe the pillars of public policy on border security in order to produce sustainable effects.
