Deformation and failure mechanism of transmission towers under the influence of landslides and finite element analysis

In areas where landslide geological disasters occur frequently, the stability of transmission towers is of utmost importance for the safe operation of the power system. This paper focuses on the mechanical response of transmission towers under the action of landslides. Based on the relative position relationship between the towers and the landslides, the deformation and failure modes and mechanisms of the tower foundations and members are analyzed, and quantitative calculation methods are provided. The finite element method is used to simulate and analyze the transmission towers by reasonably selecting the calculation model, material parameters, and load conditions. The failure judgment criteria are also determined. The research findings show that under the action of landslides, the maximum displacement and stress concentration are likely to occur at the tower feet, and only elastic deformation occurs under specific working conditions. This study provides theoretical and technical support for ensuring the safety of transmission lines in landslide-affected areas. In the future, factors such as the coupling of complex loads, different geological conditions, and long-term time-effect influences can be further considered to improve the mechanical analysis system.
