Calculation of corrosion deposition in valve cooling system considering high resistance of sediment

Corrosion deposition behavior exists in the cooling system of converter valve during operation. In order to study the dynamic growth process of deposits in the pressure equalizing electrode and the influence of sediment growth on the corrosion of aluminum radiator, a multi-field model of electric-flow-mass transfer was established to effectively analyze the above processes. The results show that the deposits of the equalizing electrode are mainly concentrated in the tip, and the thickness of the tip is much higher than that of the root. After considering the high resistance and geometric deformation of the sediment, the thickness of the tip and the root of the sediment decreases, especially the tip thickness decreases. In addition, the high resistance characteristics of the sediment alter the electric field distribution of the cooling system throughout the converter valve. The corrosion rate of aluminum radiators 1 to 10 increased, although the corrosion rate of aluminum radiators 11 to 16 decreased, but the overall corrosion rate of aluminum radiators still increased, from 79.97mg/yr to 169.6mg/yr after one year.
