EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON THE BLUNT IMPACT EQUIVALENCE OF LUNG—SIMULATING MATERIALS

In order to build a set of lung simulating surrogate with similar mechanical properties and equivalent blunt impact effect, a one-dimensional pressure wave transmission device is proposed in this paper. Through this device, the changes of pressure and pressure impulse of biological lung tissue and lung simulating materials under blunt impact are verified. The overpressure peak and the attenuation rate of pressure impulse are used as physical parameters to verify the blunt impact equivalence of the two materials, and the blunt impact equivalence of biological lung tissue and lung simulating material is verified. The test data show that the overpressure peak and pressure impulse attenuation of pressure wave are less than 5% in the pressure transmission range of 100kPa - 400kPa, which proves the stability and testability of the device. The attenuation deviation of overpressure value and pressure impulse between the selected lung simulating material and biological lung tissue is 14.78% and 5.16%, which verifies the blunt impact equivalence between the lung simulating material and biological lung tissue. The testing method of this device can provide a new testing method for the subsequent mechanical properties research of biological soft tissues and soft materials.
