Multiphase buck converter control chip of transient enhanced peak current mode

To improve the load transient response of the multiphase Buck converter and realize automatic current equalization, a multiphase Buck converter drive-control chip of the peak current mode is designed in this paper. Such a chip adopts peak current mode control and introduces inductor current feedback through on-chip current sampling technology to ensure stable output voltage and balanced current of each phase. In addition, the driver-control chip detects the load-switching transient, triggers the transient enhancement control, and suppresses the transient voltage drop caused by the load-switching. Simulation results show that the proposed driver-control chip can reduce the transient voltage sag amplitude and recovery duration by 41% and 17% respectively.
