Apply ICD technology to improve the development performance of super-heavy oil
The key factors to determine the production rate in SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage) development are the drainage area and the temperature profile conformance length of the horizontal section. However, with the length incensement of the SAGD horizontal production well, due to influence factors such as formation heterogeneity and unreasonable production adjustment, the level of the horizontal section conformance is low, which directly affects the oil production rate of the well. In view of the issues of non-conformance and hot spot of horizontal section in SAGD development of ultra-heavy oil reservoirs, which cause ramp up limitation, which affects the production effect. In order to restrain steam breakthrough, increase the conformance of horizontal section, and improve the development performance. A uniform inflow control device (ICD) is installed in horizontal section of horizontal production well. By adjusting the differential pressure in each production interval, increasing the production in the low permeability area and limiting the inflow of fluid in the high permeability area, the conformance of the entire horizontal section is increased by 35%, and the oil production of well pairs is increased by about 50%, achieving good results. In recent years, ICD technology has been widely applied in the process of heavy oil development in Canada. This technology has become a new technology to improve the SAGD development performance.
