Research on Compound-enhanced Heat Transfer of Nanofluid Vortex-induced An Elastically Supported Circular Tube Vibration
Abstract The idea of using nanofluid vortex-induced vibration (VIV) of the elastic heat exchange elements to achieve compound heat transfer enhancement was proposed. The compound heat transfer enhancement characteristics of H2O-Al2O3 nanofluid VIVa of an elastically supported circular tube are studied. We demonstrate that, for the case of H2O-Al2O3 nanofluids flowing around a fixed circular tube, there is an obvious enhancement in heat transfer when the flow velocity is less than 0.2 m/s; and, as the nanoparticle volume fraction increases, the enhancement becomes more prominent. Moreover, water can excite the vibration of the elastically supported circular tube. When the velocity is 0.125 m/s, the vibration amplitude of the circular tube is the largest, rendering the highest heat transfer enhancement of 21.9%. More importantly, the nanofluid VIV of the elastically supported circular tube can significantly further enhance the heat transfer, by up to 39.8% in our work, which is more efficient than just using nanofluid or water VIV. The work will enrich and improve the theory of heat transfer enhancement.
