Modeling and Solution for Vibration of Classical SRM
Abstract The operation of switched reluctance motors (SRM) with eccentric rotors introduces significant radial magnetic forces, leading to transverse vibrations and irregular airgap distributions, which complicates the radial magnetic resultant force. To address this complexity, a vibration equation for eccentric rotors is first established using the finite element method. Next, detailed analytical models for the radial magnetic resultant force are developed, considering both ideal and overlap current waveforms in stator windings. These models facilitate the analysis of transverse vibration coupled responses, which are subsequently solved through application of the Newmark-beta algorithm. The findings indicate that the distribution of magnetic resultant frequencies is affected by rotor speed, current switching frequency, and current waveform. Meanwhile, the frequency of displacement exhibits a strong correlation with the rotor’s first critical whirl speed, posing potential risks of transverse superharmonic resonance. This study not only provides valuable insights into the dynamics of SRMs with eccentric rotors but also highlights critical areas for further optimization and enhancement.
