Numerical Simulation of Oil Spill Based on Integral Average Scheme
Abstract In recent years, marine oil spill causes high risk due to the increase in the offshore operations, such as oil transportation and oil exploration. The damage to the environment and the incidents arising from it could be catastrophic. Numerical methods are very environmentally friendly for tracking oil spills. The existing methods for tracking multiphase flow interfaces are prone to fragmented and discontinuous interfaces. A high-precision integral average scheme is proposed for simulation of oil spills in the ocean. The benchmark problems are validated, such as interface tracking in the shear flow field, the wave field and the oil boom containment experiment, and it is found that compared with previous numerical scheme and experiment results, with the new method proposed in the paper, clearer and shaper interface with less numerical dissipation can be tracked, the validation results show that our method is highly reliable.
