Electric-Field-Vector-Profile Measurement in Gas Based on Electric-Field-Induced Second-Harmonic Generation

The application of electric-field-induced second-harmonic generation (E-FISHG) for electric field measurement has garnered attention and started to be used to discharge plasmas because of its non-invasive characteristics. The electric field of the target can be measured by irradiating a probing laser beam and detecting the E-FISHG signal. However, the accuracy of measurements in previous studies remains uncertain because the acquired value is erroneous if the difference between the electric field distribution to be measured and the one of the calibration is not considered. Therefore, we have proposed a measurement and analysis method that can consider this difference and determine the electric field distribution. Since the electric field is a vector quantity, both its strength and direction provide crucial information. In this paper, it enables the measurement of the electric field vector distribution along a linear area.
