Lyric poetry held great importance among the ancient Greeks, with several prominent poets, including Pindar, emerging. This interest in celebratory poetry coincided with the Greeks' great emphasis on sports games.Victorious athletes in various sports games sought to immortalize their achievements through celebratory poems organized by Pindar during the 5th century BC, , following their victories in the four major games: the Olympic, Pythian, Nemean, and Isthmian games. Our approach to this topic was based on an inductive method of analyzing Pindar's poems, followed by a quantitative statistical method to determine the effective contribution of Pindar's celebratory poetic works, which serve as a rich source and record in tracing the history of sports in 5th-century BC Greece.
