THE POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC ROLE OF TABRIZ CITY DURING THE QAJAR ERA 1797-1925 AD
Tabriz city is distinguished by its social and cultural diversity, as it includes a mixture of different nationalities, such as Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Mongols and Russians. This diversity has a great impact from a political and economic perspective, as the people of Tabriz played a distinctive role in political events during the Qajar era, and this was clearly evident in the Tobacco Uprising as well as in the events of the Constitutional Revolution and their rejection of tyranny and injustice. They also played an important role in defending the representative life during the reign of Muhammad Ali Shah, in addition to their distinctive position on Russian intervention in their country.Tabriz city is also one of the important commercial centers in the country due to its location on the trade route linking Iran to the Ottoman Empire, as it was the headquarters of a number of companies and merchants, which made this city at the forefront of Iranian cities from a political and economic perspective.
