THE EFFECTIVENESS OF APPLYING A THINKING SKILLS-BASED CURRICULUM IN DEVELOPING CRITICAL AND CREATIVE THINKING AMONG KINDERGARTEN CHILDREN IN AL-JAMI'AH DISTRICT, JORDAN

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of applying a curriculum based on thinking skills in developing critical and creative thinking among kindergarten children in private kindergartens in Al-Jami'ah District, Jordan. To achieve the study's objectives, the experimental method was adopted, and a teaching curriculum focusing on critical and creative thinking skills was implemented.Data were collected using two tests: the first measured critical thinking skills, and the second measured creative thinking skills. The study's results indicated a higher mean score for critical thinking in the experimental group compared to the control group.Additionally, the curriculum based on thinking skills showed a significant effect on developing creative thinking among kindergarten children. The results further revealed statistically significant differences at the level of (=0.05) in favor of the experimental group in all dimensions of creative thinking (fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration).Similarly, differences were found in critical thinking skills (connection, analysis, reasoning, detecting fallacies, and problem-solving) due to the thinking skills-based curriculum, favoring the experimental group. The study recommended incorporating critical and creative thinking skills into kindergarten curricula.
